Texting is a Tool for Writing

Recent studies show that texting can help with writing and spelling.  An average teen sends at least fifty text messages a day.  No matter how short the text messages are, it is an opportunity for teens to write.  Back then those opportunities weren't available.  Teens don't see text messages as a tool for writing.  We just send messages back and forth with stories and drama that is going on in our lives.  In my opinion, I find this true.  I send tons of text messages a day, and noticed that it has really helped with my writing.  I can sum up a story in a certain amount of words and it also expands my vocabulary.  I think much faster and can jot down a bunch of ideas in a short period of time.  This makes my writing more effective, and I am sure it helps others too.

  1. I think that text messaging is a very important modern tool for writing. I think the more a person is communicating, the more they learn about grammar or vocabulary. Text messaging can also hinder our communication as well. People need to stop cutting words down and being lazy. This wonderful language took centuries to develop and evolve! Texters need to take the time to properly articulate their thoughts, instead of using symbols or simple three-letter words. Doesn't this language deserve better?
